General
What does it mean to have a General Admission ticket?
All shows at the Capitol Theatre are General Admission unless noted
otherwise. General Admission (GA) seating means that any seating other
than reserved is available on a first come basis. GA tickets do not
guarantee seating. Please note that purchasing a ticket does not
guarantee a seat.
What is the smoking policy?
There is no smoking anywhere in the Capitol Theatre. Persons caught smoking anything, anywhere in the premises will be ejected, no questions asked.
Are credit and debit cards accepted at the bar? How about at the merchandise booth?
Credit and debit cards are not currently accepted at the bar in the Capitol Theatre. Band merchandise booths usually accept cash only.
Event Policies
Where can I buy tickets to events at The Capitol Theatre?
Advance tickets can be purchased at the Capitol Theatre box office, at www.thecapdavenport.com or sometimes at the
Co-op Records locations (Davenport and Moline). Avoid convenience and credit card charges by paying cash at the box office. For additional information you can call (563) 326-8820.
What items can I bring into the theatre?
You may bring personal items such as purse, wallet, coat. You may not bring any food, beverages, backpacks, cameras with removable lenses or anything illegal or considered dangerous. All patrons are subject to search before allowed to enter.
Live Concerts
When do doors open?
Most event listings state when the doors open. Usually it's one hour before curtain.
Video and/or audio taping?
No video equipment is permitted in the Capitol Theatre. The decision to
allow audio recording is left to the discretion of each artist. Please
call the Capitol Theatre for information specific to each show.

Booking Policies
Securing a Date
Upon request, The Capitol will be happy to hold your requested dates; however, an event date is not confirmed until we have received a signed rental agreement and deposit. If another party requests the same dates, you will be required to execute a rental agreement and submit the required deposit within 48 hours of notification in order to secure the date. If the signed rental agreement and non-refundable deposit are not received, the date may be released without further notification.Deposits are non-refundable.
All event costs must be paid one business day before the day of the event. The Capitol reserves the right to cancel the event if payment has not been received. All rental rates and charges due to The Capitol are payable upon demand, and a monthly finance charge will be added to any balance outstanding over 30 days, until the balance is paid.
Promoter must provide, from a company with an AM Best rating of at least A-, a minimum $2,000,000.00 commercial general liability policy. Eastern Iowa Community College System and Capitol Theatre Operating, L.L.C. must be named additional insured. Please review the contract for full requirements and deadline information.
The Capitol reserves the right to require a deposit to cover all estimated expenses including, but not limited to, rent and labor.
The use of the venue may be denied to any individual, group, organization, or event that does not represent the best interests of The Capitol. Such decisions will be made at the sole discretion of The Capitol.
Not for Profit
Any organization seeking to use The Capitol for an event involving fundraising must be qualified as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) or other sections of the Internal Revenue Code. A copy of the Internal Revenue determination letter must be provided to us at the time the contract is signed.Guest Services
For hosted and/or open bar events, there will be a minimum guarantee stated in the event contract.Only designated Capitol Theatre staff shall serve or handle alcoholic beverages.
An extra charge may be assessed for ice luges, martini bars or special drink recipes and if predicted use of alcohol will be higher than on a regular open bar.
Access to the Venue
The Capitol Theatre will be open to you at 12:00 noon on the day of your event. If you require access to the venue before12:00 noon on the day of the event, and/or if maintenance crew hours differ from this schedule, an extra charge may be incurred.Public Events and Ticket Sales
If tickets are to be sold through a ticket service, they must be sold through the Capitol's vendor of choice.The Capitol will pay the net proceeds due from ticket receipts, less any amounts for event expenses, in a timely manner after the conclusion of an event and upon completion of settlement.

Guest Access to the Venue
Valid ID is required for all 18 & over and/or 21 & over events. We reserve the right to deny admission to The Capitol Theatre to anyone without a valid ID.Once your guests exit the building, they may be denied re-entry without a full ticket. The Capitol reserves the right to make exceptions to this policy.
For events open to the public, only designated Capitol Theatre staff may determine when venue is ready to open doors to the public.
Parking
Parking of vehicles in front of the main entrance doors of the venue is prohibited at any time the venue is open to the public.The Capitol Theatre must approve parking of any promotional vehicle outside the venue in advance. The Capitol does not allow parking of radio station promotional vehicles in front of or next to the venue.
Parking arrangements for service vehicles such as catering and delivery trucks must be made in advance with the Event Coordinator or Production Manager.
Room Set-Up
Location of merchandise tables, reception tables, buffets, etc. must be approved by The Capitol.The Capitol must approve placement of tent structures outside the venue, and we will secure special tent permits and pass the cost on to you.
Catering
No propane, butane or other pressurized tanks are permitted in The Capitol Theatre.Sterno and electrical equipment such as convection ovens may be used in the Capitol, with prior approval from The Capitol.
Equipment
The Capitol's sound, lighting and video equipment will be operated by or under the supervision of our technical staff.Decorations
All décor materials must be flameproof, and fabrics must be accompanied by a certificate confirming the same and approved by The Capitol.No open flame devices are allowed in the Venue at any time. The Capitol must approve the use of candles.
Safety Policies
Compliance with Local Laws
At all times when The Capitol Theatre is open to the public, all exit doors must be unlocked, and access to exit doors must be unobstructed.The Capitol reserves the right to deny service of alcohol to any patron we feel may cause harm to himself/herself or others.
The Capitol reserves the right to deny admittance to any patron reasonably suspected by our security staff to be intoxicated.
The Capitol reserves the right to eject any patron if it can be reasonably determined that patron might cause harm to himself/herself or others. The Venue's security staff will make such determination.
The following actions typically result in eviction from the Venue:
- Offensive, profane or threatening language to other guests
- Public drunkenness
- Fighting or threatening to fight
The Capitol Theatre's security will conduct a visual inspection of all guests entering the facility.
Depending upon the nature of the event and related circumstances, The Capitol may require additional staffing services and will pass on the cost to you.
Required staff numbers may vary pending the projected attendance and type of inspection.
When determined by The Capitol that the potential is high for inappropriate or illegal items to be brought into the building, a full inspection would consist of a series of checkpoints, including
- Visual inspection, followed by a hand search of coats and handbags.
- Use of metal detectors to search for items not permitted such as weapons, alcohol and projectiles. If a guest does not wish to be inspected, he or she may be denied entry into the Venue.
