Burlesque Le'Moustache .... What is Burlesque? Put simply, burlesque means "in an upside down style". Like its cousin, commedia dell'arte, burlesque turns social norms head over heels. Burlesque is a style of live entertainment that encompasses pastiche, parody, and wit. The genre traditionally encompasses a variety of acts such as dancing girls, chanson singers, comedians, mime artists, and striptease artistes, all satirical and with a saucy edge. The striptease element of burlesque became subject to local legislation, leading since to a theatrical form that titillates without falling foul of the censors. The Capitol Theatre is pleased to bring this delightful form of vintage MATURE entertainment to the QC. Take a small step on the wild side and enjoy a Spring full of fun with the women (and men) of Burlesque Le' Moustache. Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 day of show. They will be available for purchase on Monday March 1. They will be available either online, the Capitol box office, Moline Co-op Records by calling 563-326-8820 or toll free 888-512-SHOW. Ages 21+ only. No photography or video of any kind is permitted at this event. |
